Nicola Conte Returns

Prolific Italian artist, producer, composer and DJ Nicola Conte has released the first couple of tracks from his upcoming album, to be released on Far Out Recordings in early 2027. “Terra Em Transe”/”Naquela Base” both turn to the early 70s Brazilian bossa and modal, kind of Acid style sound. Nicola says of “Terra Em Transe”: “It’s a dedication to visionary director Glauber Rocha and to all free thinkers willing to portray the conflicts, contradictions and lies of those in power around the world.” Inspired by Milton Nascimento’s vocal harmonies and the jazz samba of Tamba 4, the track is the perfect teaser for Nicola’s next project. The track has Magnus Lindgren on Hammond organ, flutes, and vocals.

“Naquela Base” was inspired by the jazz samba of Tenório Jr. and Paulo Moura and features flying solos from Gaetano Partipilo on alto sax and Pietro Lussi on piano. The track was written by the legendary João Donato and was first recorded in 1965 for his LP “Sambou, Sambou”. Check both songs out here! And why not revisit Nicola’s brilliant 2023 LP “Umoja”, also on Far Out Recordings, which we reviewed here as well.
