DJ Alone Again – “Orbital Constructs”
WOLF Music Recordings, which started its label journey back in 2009 when it was founded by two house and disco fanatics, is coming up with a new 4-track EP from New York-based DJ and producer DJ Alone Again. It comes about six months after his debut on vinyl, the “Sense Of Self” EP on Yore Records – full of deep and pretty atmospheric house tracks. The new EP “Orbital Constructs” is coming out this Friday and starts off with warm keys and synth pads on “Freedom Of House” before some mean and oblique percussion sets in. The piece celebrates and somehow encapsulates everything that describes house music, mostly freedom, interaction, community and individualism, as shown here with the spoken word part. The track also has this wonderful, hypnotic chord in the back which drives and pumps the groove forward. “State Of Flux”, the second track on the A side here, keeps up with the warm keys and synth stabs and soulful percussion before some atmospheric vibes set in. It’s really a great moment when the synth strings fly in smoothly, putting this comfy blanket over the layered arrangement. Another truly remarkable and mesmerizing piece.
Side B starts with “Horizontal Patterns” and even though it comes with some stronger and heavier drums, it retains the very deep and atmospheric overall vibe of the EP. Here we go again with another highly hypnotic groove, this time around including some rolling, soulful female vocals which remind us that we’re very much “deep in the groove” where we want to be. “In Your Orbit” is the grand finale, a pulsating and yet somehow melancholic groove with some eerie flute lines setting the tone for this dreamy, highly enjoyable ending. A four-tracker which comes across as a modern classic.
