Anouar Brahem Quartet: New Album and Tour

Tunisian oud player and composer Anouar Brahem, with his brilliant mix of Arab classical music, Jazz, and Folk, will play three exclusive concerts in Germany as part of the successful JazzNights series, organised by Karsten Jahnke and now running for 25 years. Anouar has released his first album on the legendary German-based ECM label back in 1991. Called “Barzakh”, he recorded with violinist Bechir Selmi and percussionist Lassad Hosni. He has released a dozen albums now on the label. We are still big fans of his 2002 album “Le Pas Du Chat Noir” featuring François Couturier on piano, and Jean-Louis Matinier on accordion. For his next ECM album, “After The Last Sky”, to be released on March 7th, Anouar has some heavyweight help: Django Bates on piano, Dave Holland on bass, and classical violoncellist Anja Lechner.
In addition to the concerts in Germany, this quartet also has some more dates slated for Europe.
