Cassandra Wilson "Blue Skies"Congratulations Cassandra Wilson on her 59th birthday. She is in the midst of her German tour playing Baden-Baden tomorrow, Munich on Saturday, St. Polten in Austria on Sunday and Frankfurt next Tuesday before winding it up in Bratislava on December 11th and Verona on the 13th.

Cassandra is currently preparing the release of her next album, “Coming Forth By Day – A Tribute To Billie Holiday” slated for spring. She will embark on a highly-anticipated world tour in February 2015 and is slated to make her headlining debut at Harlem’s fabled Apollo Theater on Friday, April 10, 2015. (see News).

This is the cover of her 1988 LP “Blue Skies” which was recorded in New York, engineered by the great Joe Ferla and featuring nine standards done in typical supreme Wilson fashion. It features the late great Mulgrew Miller on piano, Lonnie Plaxico on bass, and Terri Lyne Carrington on drums.
