Charlie Parker On Vinyl

The Complete Savoy and Dial Sessions 1944-1948Savoy Jazz will release a 10-LP set of Charlie Parker recordings in November. “The Complete Savoy and Dial Studio Recordings 1944-1948” was nominated for a Grammy and produced by Orrin Keepnews.

The 180g vinyl set not only showcases the legendary saxophonist during his career beginnings, but also includes performances from artists like Miles Davis, Erroll Garner, Sarah Vaughan, Bud Powell, or Dizzy Gillespie. Orrin Keepnews, who died earlier this year, has worked with a lot of major Jazz artists during his career and in the liner notes for the 8-CD collection which now will see the light of day in vinyl form as well, he says: “This is undoubtedly the most ambitious Charlie Parker compilation yet attempted. Our goal is to assemble the entire formally recorded output of the incredible period midway through the 1940’s during which this remarkable artist first made his presence permanently known.”
