Kathy Kosins – Magic Island (Single)

Detroit-based Jazz and Soul singer and songwriter Kathy Kosins will release her new single “Magic Island” next week Tuesday. It is already out in the UK and making waves over there, with the track currently at No.2 on the Soul Breakers Chart. The song is an elegant, smoothly swaying ballad which reminds me of some of the best mid-80s soul tunes from the so-called Quiet Storm era.

Kathy once again proves on this particular track that she’s a veritable soul singer with just about the right amount of warmth and sincerity, handling this beautiful melody with a lot of honesty and finesse, too. She easily rises to the higher registers and elsewhere, stays true to her sumptuous approach which she has displayed time and again on her singles which she has released in the past couple of years.
