Mamas Gun with New Album and Tour

Gina and Gustel favorites Mamas Gun, the UK soul-pop band founded by Andy Platts in London in 2007, just released the second single off their next album, due April 10th on Légère Recordings. On “DIG!”, the title track from the new album, the group is joined by living legend Brian Jackson who contributes vocals, keys, and flute. The song is “about not taking everything at face value”, according to the press release and “scratching past the surface getting to the heart of the matter”. Andy met Brian in 2006 near the start of his career when he had just gotten his first publishing deal. “Through that first deal I luckily got the chance to work with the likes of songwriter Rod Temperton (Michael Jackson /Thriller), Hall & Oates, and Brian Jackson. So fast forward to 2025 and I have this song ‘DIG!’ 80% written. It needs a final touch and some special sauce. Brian is over in the UK for touring and on my suggestion comes to my studio to hang out. What you hear is what happened next. It’s a song he and I are very proud of”, says Andy.

Mamas Gun "Dig!"

The song was recorded straight to analogue tape and is the second single after “Food For The Flames”, which came out on November 19th. The song is typical Mamas Gun with exceptionally soulful vocals by Andy, great backing vocals, and superb production. An instant classic, written by all band members. Brian perfectly fits in there with his more classic-sounding voice and a grooving flute over a genuinely shuffling rhythm track. “DIG!” will be out on vinyl too and please don’t miss Mamas Gun on tour in the UK, Europe, and the US, see tour dates below.
