Moyses Dos Santos Releases Debut
Brazilian bassist, composer, and producer Moyses Dos Santos will release his debut album “Maria” on June 12th on Far Out Recordings. The now London-based musician, one of the UK’s premier jazz and funk bassists, has worked with Arthur Verocai, Theo Croker, Kiko Continentino, and Lynda Dawn on his album. Three singles have already been released. “Boa Viagem” bridges his Northeast Brazilian home sounds with contemporary jazz. “Saudade”, which features the sweet vocals of Lynda Dawn, indulges in lush and swinging Brazilian samba and has Theo smoothing along with a perfect solo. Latest single “Brazilian Spirit” is just that: a sweltering, nocturnal and laid-back modern jazz groove with Theo again handling virtuosic trumpet work.
Moyses will perform two special headline shows at Ronnie Scott’s in London on June 12th with several musicians from the album playing with him on stage: Josh Short – trumpet
Mike Anning – sax
James Wade-Sired – trombone
Tristan Wills – keys
Charlie Allen – guitar
Francesco Mendolia – drums
Alua Nascimento – percussion
Featuring:
Lynda Dawn – featured guest vocals
Ayda Rose, Baby Sol – vocals
