Erykah Badu Returns

Eleven years after her last studio album, Erykah Badu just announced the release of her next one, coming August 28th (digital only at first). Produced by The Alchemist, the album’s title and cover will be communicated on the day of the release. The album was recorded in Dallas and Los Angeles and deals with young love, disappointment, hope, female self-determination, family, and spirituality and mixes soul with jazz, blues, rock, underground hip-hop, and funk.

Erykah plays a few select dates in Europe in October, among them two days at the new Blue Note club in London. Ticket sale for those shows will start today at 11am CET. The first single, “Witch Doctor”, is out now and sounds pretty amazing with the second part reminding us of some sort of voodoo hypnosis.
