This year’s ECHO Jazz Award celebration will be held in Hamburg on May 28th. The two hosts for the event will be Gregory Porter and Roger Cicero. And there will be a lot of live music on stage: Stacey Kent, Michael Wollny & Vincent Peirani, Gregory Porter, Branford Marsalis, Klaus Doldinger’s Passport, Nils Wülker and Niels Klein will all perform during Germany’s most important Jazz Award ceremony.

Marsalis receives his award for Instrumentalist of the year, International in the Saxophones/Woodwinds category. Klein gets the same award in the national category. Bestseller of the year is host Gregory Porter. Dr. Florian Drücke, Managing Director of the BVMI (Bundesverband Musikindustrie) said in a statement: “The ECHO Jazz is moving the big musical spectrum of this genre into focus. Not only for the award winners which are determined each year by the jury, but especially for the mix of the live acts. We are very happy about the impressive line-up and I am pretty sure that it will help to contribute that this award show will be seen as an homage to Jazz.”
