Montreux Jazz Festival 2021 Poster
For this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival, the organisers came up with a competition for the design of the 55th edition. The project named “Restart” has drawn 1.935 artists from 54 countries and there are some pretty unique, quiet interesting and very imaginative designs among the winners. The ten best posters have been selected by a professional jury and the results will be printed in 50x70cm formats, available as limited copies with 100 pieces each. Also, an additional 20 posters will be exhibited during this year’s run.
The winning poster is by Italian Valeria Pernice; she has also won the most votes on the Instagram account of the festival. What she did was simple but effective: she turned the depressing press release of last year’s cancellation of the festival into an uplifting, optimistic message. See for yourself. And let’s hope that this year’s festival will happen. It is scheduled for July 2nd-17th, with the programme to be announced on June 1st. As of today, Switzerland has opened up a bit more with visitors now being able again to go to theaters, stadiums, or open-air restaurants, with more measures projected for the summer months.
