Ramsey Lewis in the Saturday Salon
Legendary keyboardist and pianist and NEA Jazz Master Ramsey Lewis has just announced the second season of his online performance series called “Saturday Salon” on StageIt. The “Saturday Salon”, sponsored by Ariel Investments, will run on the last Saturday of each month and features a 60-minute performance at 1:00pm Central Time. A portion of the proceeds of each performance will benefit The Jazz Foundation of America. Here’s the schedule for the remaining part of 2021:
May 29th: The Incurable Romantic. All time favorite love songs from his peers and his own repertoire in a show dedicated to love and romance.
June 26th: Songs From Black Orpheus And Other Movie Themes. The music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfá graced the soundtrack to “Black Orpheus”. Ramsey will play music from that classic and other movie-related themes.
July 31st: The Beatles Songbook Volume II. No further explanation needed on this one.
August 28th: Funky Serenity. “Funky Serenity”, his 1973 classic Soul/Jazz and Jazz/Funk LP, will be celebrated and re-imagined with timeless cuts such as “Kufanya Mapenzi (Making Love)” and “Serene Funk”.
September 25th: An Hour With Ramsey Lewis. Recorded in 1959 in Chicago’s Ter-Mar studios, “An Hour With Ramsey Lewis” was actually the first LP which had a running time of close to 60 minutes instead of the half hour albums which were the norm back then. Ramsey will play his classic tunes in this 60-minute set.
October 30th: In Love With Love. Another set of the most beautiful love songs.
November 27th: Frankly Sentimental. Ramsey plays Frank Sinatra love songs.
December 24th: More Sounds Of Christmas. A revisit of his classic Christmas LP from 1964, one of the best-selling Jazz Xmas albums.
Tickets for each performance are 20$ and they are now on sale at StageIt.com/Ramsey Lewis.
