BigBand der Deutschen Oper Berlin with Gershwin

BigBand der Deutschen Oper BerlinThis year’s concert of the BigBand of the Deutsche Oper Berlin focuses on George Gershwin. “Summertime – The Fadcinating George Gershwin” is the title of the programme for this upcoming Monday, June 22nd.

Since nine years now, the musicians of Berlin’s Deutsche Oper have taken breaks from playing Verdi, Wagner, Mozart, or Puccini to dig deeper into the musical world and artistry of people like Sammy Nestico, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Thad Jones, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Frank Sinatra, or Peter Herbolzheimer.

Musical director Manfred Honetschläger, together with Sebastian Krol and Rüdiger Ruppert, have added various German Jazz and non-Jazz artists to their annual programme and this year is no exception: performing the timeless songs of the Gershwin brothers will be musial stars Katharine Mehrling and Uli Scherbel.

Over the years, this annual concert has now become a nice tradition and all additional info can be found right here:
