Countdown to second XJAZZ Festival

It is only three days away: Germany’s newest and coolest and most relaxed festival will once again help make Kreuzberg in Berlin the most attractive neighborhood.

XJAZZ Berlin from 7th to 10th may 2015The festival focuses again on the ever growing German Jazz scene with most of the bands (50 in total) coming from Germany. Also, like in the first edition last year, there will again be a focus on electronic, classical, and singer-songwriter movements. All ten participating clubs are in Kreuzberg and are not necessarily associated with a Jazz programming. So there will be a great mixture of people with a healthy dose of curiosity and enthusiasm again.

Also, check out the OffJazz section with free concerts, movie screenings, parties and panels.

As a warm-up, Watergate will host the Berlin X Tel Aviv Ensemble with Omer Klein, Sebastian Studnitzky, Rhani Krija, Yuval Cohen, and Joshua Ginsbourg. The first concert of the festival on Thursday will be at Lido by Israeli sensation KUTIMAN who will feature singer Joy Denalane in a mix of Soul, Jazz, Afrobeat, and Funk. The final night and certainly one of this year’s highlights will be José James performing his latest Billie Holiday tribute at Neue Heimat on Sunday, May 10th.
