First JazzWeek Chart For 2015

David Hazeltine "I Remember Cedar"Pianist David Hazeltine is Number 1 on the year’s first JazzWeek chart with his tribute album “I Remember Cedar” dedicated to Cedar Walton. The album also features David Williams and Joe Farnsworth.

The duo album “The Art Of Conversation” by Kenny Barron and Dave Holland remains at Number 2 and the new HighNote release from tenor saxophonist Houston Person, “The Melody Lingers On”, is up to the Number 3 spot. A big jump into the top ten makes Tony Monaco with his “Furry Slippers” album.

The highest debut this week and also biggest gainer is the “Vocal Madness” CD by the Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet featuring Richie Cole at Number 24 and the most added album is the live disc by Branford Marsalis, “In My Solitude”.

Chartbound albums this week are the latest from Clarence Penn, Carl Saunders, and Kenny Shanker.
