Jazzopen in Stuttgart Announces Programme

The 22nd edition of this Festival which once hosted a rare German appearance of Rosemary Clooney, takes place this year from July 3rd to 12th in various locations throughout the city.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum has Caro Emerald and Mario Biondi as opening acts on July 4th. Also appearing there will be Marcus Miller and Joshua Redman & The Bad Plus.

The beautiful open-air setting of the Schlossplatz will be the location for a special double bill with Gregory Porter & The Metropole Jazz Orchestra and Dianne Reeves. I think we can expect them to join forces on a track or two. Jamie Cullum will also be among the artists performing there. And he will be backed by a Big Band, too.

Stuttgart’s premier Jazz club, Bix, has Lizz Wright on July 8th, or Magnus Öström a day later. There will be three concerts at the Eventcenter Spardawelt: David Sanborn (July 6th), Brad Mehldau Trio (July 7th), and the German Jazz Trophy with Ralph Towner (July 3rd). There will also be concerts at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart and the Leonhardskirche.
