Roy, Gregory, Chick and Bobby In Berlin This Week
This upcoming week, Berlin has several top live acts as guests. Starting on Monday, Roy Hargrove and his Quintet will grace the stage at A-Trane for three consecutive nights. Roy is bringing his current group with Justin Robinson (sax), Sullivan Fortner (p), Ameen Saleem (b), and Quincy Phillips (dr).
Everybody’s darling Gregory Porter returns to Berlin on Wednesday with the Metropole Orchestra. He is part of this year’s Citadel Music Festival programme and his concert with the 60-piece orchestra headed by musical director Jules Buckley promises to be one of this summer’s highlights.
On the same night, Berlin’s Philharmonic Hall will host the reunion of Chick Corea and Bobby McFerrin in their “Together Again” concert. I’m not sure yet where to go to but will most likely hop on the train to Spandau on Wednesday to see Gregory Porter who by the way will return to the recording studio this fall for his next album.
