27th Enjoy Jazz Festival Oct 2nd-Nov 8th
Coming up this fall, one of the most important jazz festivals which is now firmly established in the festival circuit, Enjoy Jazz will be back for its 27th edition. With over 20.000 visitors and journalists from around the world, exclusive venues will be in Mannheim, Heidelberg, and Ludwigshafen again. The festival will run from October 2nd until November 8th and the lineup for this year is pretty impressive too.
Trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf will kick things off on October 2nd at the BASF-Feierabendhaus in Ludwigshafen. Also on the calendar: Brandee Younger, the harpist who just released her latest, and best album to date, “Gadabout Season”, plays the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg on October 7th. A world premiere will be the duo performance of Shabaka and Nduduzu Makhathini on October 14th at Alte Feuerwache in Mannheim. Michael Wollny is also on the list (October 17th), the James Brandon Lewis Quartet plays Heidelberg on October 24th, Vincent Peirani on October 26th, Vijay Iyer and Wadada Leo Smith on October 26th, corto.alto on October 29th, Dee Dee Bridgewater Quartet on October 31st, Shai Maestro Quartet on November 2nd, ganavya on November 4th, Abdullah Ibrahim Trio on November 5th, Makaya McCraven on November 6th, and a night of Jazz is Dead featuring Gary Bartz, Bilal, and Adrian Younge on November 7th.
