jazzahead! 2025

So here we are again at the world’s biggest jazz fair in Bremen. We’re looking forward to meeting lots of old and new friends, live showcases, the club night, and so much more. This year, there is going to be an evening with Dutch LGBTQ+ artists at Himmelssaal. Presented by Buma Cultuur and That Jazz Girl, the Kaleidoscope Clubnight will be a clear and forceful statement of tolerance and equality and much more than that of course. The three artists who will perform that night all have their own individual message to deliver – all under the solidarity and pride umbrella, but each one with his or her special delivery:

Pianist and vocalist Maaike den Dunnen will present her new project Practicing Solitude. Pianist Daan Herweg will play with his Quartet, consisting of Per Mathisen on bass, Jeroen Batterink on drums and Matthias van den Brande on sax. His latest album, “In Search of The Lost Chord”, gained rave reviews. And the nine-piece collective Parra.Dice, from Utrecht, will present their groove-heavy and energetic music. All under the roof of the Himmelssaal, described as an architectural Atlantis utopia which was built in 1930 and later abused by the Nazis. Which makes it the perfect location for an evening like this I might add. We’ll keep you posted.
