Arooj Aftab – Whiskey

Pakistani singer, composer, and producer Arooj Aftab has just released her second single from her upcoming Verve album “Night Reign”, which will be released on May 31st. On the wistful, harp-induced “Whiskey” and most of the other tracks on the album, she explores themes of the night and dedicates the whole album to it. I really like the part when she sings “I’m drunk and you’re insane/Tell me how we will get home”.

It’s her fourth solo album to date and the official release show will be in Brooklyn on May 30th. Arooj will also play North Sea Jazz this year (July 13th) and she’ll be back in Europe for a longer tour in October and November see dates below. “Night Reign” will be out on vinyl too. Expect a full review later this month.
