Congratulations to Siggi Loch

The producer, label founder and label head received the “Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland” (Order of the Federal Republic of Germany) from president Gauck last Monday.

Loch has received numerous awards over the years. He has also made it a tradition of inviting journalists to his home during the Berlin Jazzfest. Last weekend, the turnout there was the highest of the last three years and as always, we were treated to some brand new music which he’ll release on his ACT Music label in the new year.

Iiro Rantala, one of the most important and influential musicians from Finland and former member of the Trio Töykeät, who has released a wonderful solo album in 2011 (“Lost Heroes”) which won the Best Jazz Album of the year award and Jukka Perko, the Finnish saxophonist with roots in classical and orchestral music, showcased music from their new album to be released in April 2015 in the label’s series Duo Art.
