Felton Pilate Celebrates

Happy Birthday to Felton Pilate, the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer for the Soul Funk group Con Funk Shun. Pilate joined the group shortly after his own group disbanded in the early 70s and became the lead voice (together with Michael Cooper) and later the music center of the group until he left in 1986.  Pilate had tremendous success with MC Hammer and also released a solo album in 2006, “Nothing But Love Spoken Here”.

This is the cover for Con Funk Shun’s 1979 LP “Candy”, a gem of an album with timeless songs like “Da Lady” or “Main Slice”.
