ECHO Jazz 2016 Nominees Announced
This year’s ECHO Jazz award will again be held at Hamburg’s Kampnagel. The nominees have just been announced, as well as the confirmation that Hamburg will be the host city again for the years 2017 and 2018. There is a total of 56 nominees in 19 categories. I just wanted to give away a few here. Please also check the website (link below) for the full list.
Among the nominees in the “Ensemble of the Year, National” are the Michael Wollny Trio, Rolf Kühn Unit, and Nils Wogram Nostalgia and the international category lists James Farm, the Bad Plus with Joshua Redman, and Snarky Puppy as nominees. “Vocalist of the Year, International” nominees are José James, Diana Krall, and Cécile McLorin Salvant and the national artists are Natalia Mateo, Roger Cicero, and Daniel Cacija.
The keyboard/piano category, national, has Michael Wollny, Omer Klein, and Anke Helfrich and international, Iiro Rantala, Tigran Hamasyan, and Stefano Bollani. And newcomer of the year nominees are Natalia Mateo, Lorenz Kellhuber, and Tobias Meinhart.
