“Everlasting” – Jody Watley

Jody Watley "Everlasting"

The year started out on a mellow, groovy note with Jody Watley‘s “Everlasting”. Her genuine and encouraging lyrics are supported by a fancy remix from Alex Di Ciò. “When I was a girl, I believed in fairytales and fantasies/As I got older, I realized nothing is ever easy/I found that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose/You gotta stay up, just keeping moving on/
Everlasting” and later: “Don’t let the worst of life get the best of you”. Jody sounds better than ever on this totally captivating, sometimes almost guileless tune which also boasts a thick and rich production, courtesy of Jody herself and Rodney Lee. Over the next few months after its release, remixes came out for the dancefloor and beyond by Quentin Harris, Slowz, The Illustrious Blacks featuring Amara Jaguar, John “J-C” Carr, Gianpiero Xp, and DāM-FunK. For us, the Alex Di Ciò version is the purest and most fitting backdrop for Jody’s sensitive vocals.
