Kamasi Washington NY Concert Postponed

One of the most talked-about musicians of the past year certainly is Kamasi Washington. With his three-disc opus “The Epic”, also available on vinyl, he also released one of the most interesting sets of the year. Now, where exactly in Europe he broke is ankle only he knows and it’s not supposed to be the main topic of this article, but it is the reason why he had to postpone his Webster Hall concert scheduled for next Thursday, to February 24th.

Kamasi Washington "The Epic"Kamasi told the New York Times: “…per the advisement of my doctors, I can’t take any long flights due to the surgery I had on my broken ankle”. Gina sends out her best wishes for a quick recovery!

There’s more to explore on Thursday night, of course. Pianist and organist Mike LeDonne started to organize the Disability Pride NYC concert. Mike started this non-profit because of his disabled 11-year old daughter and because he wants to do something about the public perception about people with disabilities.

So this year’s fundraiser concert for the Disability Pride cause will feature Wynton Marsalis, Monty Alexander, Benny Golson, Christian McBride, Jimmy Cobb, Harold Mabern, Buster Williams, Louis Hayes, Bill Charlap, and many more. The concert will take place from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Quaker’s Friends Meeting Hall at 15, Rutherford Place.
