Zig Zag Expands. Aaron Frazer in Berlin.

Berlin-Schöneberg’s Zig Zag Club, which has clearly developed into the city’s most important jazz club regarding international and local acts, is collaborating with two other major venues in order to bring in some more top-notch artists: on November 4th, both Quincy Jones-mentored artists Alfredo Rodriguez (piano) and Richard Bona (bass) will appear as a duo at the Konzerthaus in the city’s centre. And on November 12th, Kreuzberg’s Passionskirche will host Chris Potter (sax), Zakir Hussain (tablas), and Dave Holland (bass).

We also wanted to remind you that Aaron Frazer stops by next Tuesday. He’s on the road supporting his second album “Into The Blue”, which clearly belongs in the year’s favorite albums list. He will play at the Columbia Theatre. We’re also looking forward to seeing legendary Brazilian guitarist Guinga, playing tonight at Myers’ Hotel, Brooklyn-based Pakistani vocalist, composer, and producer Arooj Aftab, bringing her new Verve Records album “Night Reign” to town on Saturday at Heimathafen Neukölln, Pat Metheny playing solo at Berlin Philharmonic Hall on Monday, and Joao Bosco and Jaques Morelenbaum who will grace the stage of Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie next week Wednesday. Look out for concert reviews on these pages.
