Neukölln Gets All Jazzed Up

Jazzfest NeuköllnFrom Friday to Sunday of next week, Berlin’s hip Neukölln will stage its annual Jazzfest at Kulturstall Schloss Britz. Part of the line-up are student musicians from the Paul Hindemith music school and lecturers plus music professors of the Jazzinstitut Berlin.

The Duo Elégance, consisting of internationally renowned David Friedman (vibes) and Peter Weniger (sax) will be among the artists on Saturday as are Brazilian Jazz Rock group Oloyé, founded by singer Eutália de Carvalho.

On the first day of the Festival, you can catch the Ray Kaczynski Quartet featuring Felix Wahnschaffe (sax), Greg Ambro (tp), Marc Lowenthal (p), Rodolfo Paccapelo (b), and Mr. Kaczynski on drums. Also interesting to note is the Tuba Vibes Project with Franz Bauer and Stefan Gocht, Esther Kaiser with her new album celebrating the music of Abbey Lincoln, or the group Mo’ Blow.

The Festival ends on Sunday with two big bands: the Berlin Composers Orchestra and The Flintstones Big Band featuring Peter Weniger. The full programme and additional info can be found here: www.musikschuleneukoelln.de
