Pat Metheny Announces New Album in July
Guitarist Pat Metheny has just announced the release of his new album “MoonDial”. It will be out on July 26th on BMG. The music on the album was composed while on tour and it is going to be another solo album without overdubs. Metheny, who turns 70 later this year, plays the baritone guitar, made exclusively for him by Linda Manzer, one of the most sought-after guitar manufacturers. The special strings were made in Argentina. On the album, Pat plays mostly original compositions, but there a few exceptions: he recorded Chick Corea’s “You’re My Everything” as well as the standards “Angel Eyes” and “Everything Happens To Me”, which he combines with Leonard Bernstein’s “Somewhere”. Also on the album, the Lennon/McCartney classic “Here, There & Everywhere”, David Raskins’ “My Love And I”, and the traditional “Londonderry Air”. His own compositions were created during his last “Dream Box” tour. He is currently on the road with the “Dream Box” material, playing various US dates until April 13th. His European “Dream Box”/”MoonDial” tour starts in October. And listen to the title track, which has been out since yesterday. It’s another Pat Metheny gem with a dreamlike quality.
