Smokey Robinson Announces New Album
His new album is called “Gasms” (make your guess) and will be released on April 28th. It will feature 9 songs written and produced by himself. It’s his first album of all new material since “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun” in 2009. In 2014, he recorded a duets album of some of his former hits called “Smokey & Friends” which featured Elton John, Ledisi, James Taylor, and John Legend, among others.
Both Smokey Robinson, who has penned over 4.000 songs, and Motown founder Berry Gordy will be honored as the 2023 “Persons Of The Year” at the annual MusiCares event of the Recording Academy on February 3rd.
Check out the lead single off the album, “If We Don’t Have Each Other”, below. It’s a grower. I couldn’t find out yet if the record will come out on vinyl as well.
