Let’s all hope that tour schedules will stay safe during the upcoming fall and winter season. It is hard to believe, somehow surreal even, that the last concert I attended was way back in early March, 2020. But there are some good news coming in. New York’s famed and precious Village Vanguard resumes work on September 14th for the first time since March 2020 with guests having to show proof of vaccination. Tickets can only be purchased online and the first act to play is an all-star group with Ron Miles on trumpet, Bill Frisell on guitar, Jason Moran on piano, Thomas Morgan on bass, and Brian Blade on drums. Also coming up at the Vanguard: a two-week run with the Bill Charlap Trio from September 21st til October 3rd.
In Germany, Wynton Marsalis will grace various stages with his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra including, among many other great players, Victor Goines, Sherman Irby, Ted Nash, and Marcus Printup. Make sure to catch one of their shows on the upcoming October tour:
10/04 Hamburg – Elbphilharmonie
10/07 Erfurt – Theater
10/11 Neunkirchen – Neue Gebläsehalle
10/12 Frankfurt – Alte Oper
10/14 Baden-Baden – Festspielhaus
10/18 Berlin – Admiralspalast
