Zig Zag Jazz Club in Berlin
Berlin’s newest jazz club, the Zig Zag Club in Schöneberg, opened in 2012 and had a major renovation last year. The club draws people from all age groups and all kinds of backgrounds and features the vast Berlin jazz landscape with all of its forms: Be Bop, Free, Latin, African, Balkan, Soul, Funk, Blues etc are all finding its place here.
Now, the club has announced a little Festival in October when the Berlin jazz community mingles with those of various international cities. The six-day festival will inaugurate the international programme of the club. Saxophonist Mark Turner will open with a solo concert on October 28th and Eric Revis will close the programme on November 2nd with Ken Vandermark, Marc Ducret, and Nasheet Waits.
There will be jazz musicians from the UK, Russia, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Poland, the USA, and more playing together with Berlin and Berlin-based artists. It’s a welcome addition to the overall live jazz scene in the city and an attractive festival line-up so I’ll try to make sure to visit Schöneberg again.
