67th Monterey Jazz Festival
Since 1958, the Monterey Jazz Festival has presented thousands of legendary jazz musicians and rising stars. I was lucky enough to visit many years ago, in 2000. This year’s lineup is pretty impressive: the Festival will run on the weekend of September 27th to September 29th. The three different stages are the Jimmy Lyons Stage, the Tim Jackson Stage, and the West End Stage presented by Castoro Cellars, one of the best vineyards on the Central Coast.
Among the artists this year are José James with his new “1978” project, Joshua Redman with Gabrielle Cavassa, Samara Joy, Chief Adjuah, Mavis Staples, Robert Glasper feat. Yebba, Cory Henry, Keyon Harrold feat. PJ Morton, Ben Williams Quintet, Avery*Sunshine, Jason Moran feat. BlankFor.ms, Don Was & The Pan-Detroit Ensemble, Joel Ross’ Good Vibes, Monophonics, Jamison Ross, Brandee Younger Trio feat. Mumu Fresh, and many more.
