Rockit Festival 2024

The sixth edition of the Rockit Festival is ready to go on November 9th. I was lucky enough to visit this brilliant festival in Groningen last year and will make sure to be back at De Oosterpoort, the festival’s attractive location. And speaking of attraction, this year’s programme is really cool: Los Angeles-based saxophonist Kamasi Washington will play music from his new album “Fearless Movement”. British innovative jazz musician Shabaka will be there as well. His new album is the brilliant “Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace”. Meshell Ndegeocello has a new record coming out on August 2nd. Master trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire is always worth the trip. Funkadelic-inspired MonoNeon is part of the roster too. I’m also looking forward to Samora Pinderhughes who will play with the North Sea String Quartet. And Catpack, the new project by LA trio of Amber Navran (of Moonchild), Phil Beaudreau, and Jacob Mann, have released several highly satisfying singles in the past couple of months.
