Chris Bennett in Berlin
It has become a nice tradition for LA-based singer, songwriter, composer, producer Chris Bennett to visit Berlin for a week in the summer months. She’s been doing that since about 20 years now and she will be back this week for four consecutive nights at the A-Trane with two sets each night.
Chris, who started her career in Germany when she was the lead singer for Giorgio Moroder‘s Munich Machine, has written songs for The Manhattan Transfer, Tina Turner, Leon Ware, and The Three Degrees and produced the first album for Keb Mo. Over the years, she recorded 12 albums under her own name, two of which are live recordings from the A-Trane from 1999 and 2003.
This week, she will feature Tahitian saxophonist Armando Castagnoli. Also backing her is Berlin’s finest rhythm section: Christoph Adams (p), Lars Gühlcke (b), Ernst Bier (dr). Chris is dedicating her shows to her longtime pianist Eric Doney who passed away last spring.
This week only, June 16th-19th at 9pm.
