Carole Bayer Sager

For International Women’s Day, we focus on a very special songwriter. Our playlist for today consists of songs that were written or co-written by Carole Bayer Sager who wrote her first Number 1 hit back in 1966 (a very good year 😉 “A Groovy Kind Of Love” for The Mindbenders (later covered by Phil Collins). Over the years, she was responsible for dozens of hits like “Arthur’s Theme” by Christopher Cross, “Nobody Does It Better” by Carly Simon, “When I Need You” by Leo Sayer, “Midnight Blue” or “Come In From The Rain” by Melissa Manchester and lots of treasured songs she wrote with her ex-husband Burt Bacharach. Carole released three albums herself: her self-titled debut in 1977, “…Too” in 1978 and her final album in 1981 called “Sometimes Late At Night”, co-produced by Burt Bacharach, which includes “Stronger Than Before”, later recorded by Chaka Khan (1984) and Dionne Warwick (1985). She released her memoir “They’re Playing Our Song” in 2016. Happy 71st and thank you for accompanying us through the 80s (and early 90s) with these songs (among many others):
