First Berlinale Competition Movies Announced

Golden BearThe 67th Berlin International Film Festival has announced the first 10 films for the Competition section. World premieres from Hungary, Germany, the USA, the UK, and several co-produced movies are now in for the Golden Bear. There is also a German documentary among the movies, “Beuys” by Andres Veiel.

The American entry is by Oren Moverman and features Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Steve Coogan, Rebecca Hall, and Chloe Sevigny in “The Dinner”. And “The Party” is the Bristish entry by Sally Potter with Patricia Clarkson, Bruno Ganz, Cherry Jones, Emily Mortimer, Cillian Murphy, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Timothy Spall. Also, Aki Kaurismäki is back with his new movie “Toivon Tuolla Puolen”.

Among the Berlinale Special entries is “La Reina De Espana” by Fernando Trueba with Penelope Cruz and “La Jeune Karl Marx” with August Diehl. The 67th Berlinale, under the jury president Paul Verhoeven, runs from February 9th to 19th.
