George Benson Is Back

George Benson "Walking To New Orleans"

Six years after his Nat King Cole tribute album called “Inspiration”, George Benson returns with “Walking To New Orleans”, an album of music by Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and early rock’n’roll, to be released on April 26th.

The first single, “Nadine”, originally by Chuck Berry and recorded in 1964, finds Mister Benson, who turns 76 next month, in ultra-cool form, sounding 50 years younger. Even though it’s not really my kind of music, it will be interesting to hear him strut some southern style R&B and rock and roll on the full album.

I also wanted to share his upcoming European tour dates:

Paris, L’Olympia July 9th
Zurich, Theater 11, July 10th
Perugia, Arena Santa Giuliana, July 15th
London, Eventim Apollo, July 16th and 17th with Burt Bacharach and Joss Stone

Erlangen, Jazz am See, July 21st
Berlin, Stage Theater @ Potsdamer Platz, July 22nd
