Live Streams From Van Gelder Studio
The legendary recording studio in New Jersey, home to hundreds of Blue Note recordings and thousand others, has announced a virtual music service where you can stream live from VanGelder.live.
Kicking off the live streaming service this upcoming Saturday, November 14th, will be a live show with an all-star quartet celebrating the music of Blue Note maestro, hard bop icon and saxophonist Hank Mobley. The group consists of Joe Lovano on tenor sax, Isaiah J. Thompson on piano, Ron Carter on bass, and Kenny Washington on drums. Expect some surprise guests as well. Live From Van Gelder studio will continue in the new year with 10 more shows to be announced. The series will feature talent from original classic recordings coming together with multi-generational artists who will pay tribute to iconic albums which were recorded in the hallowed studio. You can buy your 15$ ticket from the website, additional restreams will be available for Asia and Europe on November 15th.
Elsewhere in the live streaming world, check out the two legendary pianists Patrice Rushen and Billy Childs in a duet setting. As part of Detroit’s Carr Center’s dUOS and dUETS series, Carr Center Artistic Director and 2021 NEA Jazz Master Terri Lyne Carrington launches this new virtual live performing series this Saturday, November 14th at 7:30pm EST. The concert is free and can be viewed worldwide, but the Carr Center asks you to register.
