Maya Delilah on Blue Note

I still remember my surprise when I first heard singer Maya Delilah on the second version of the Blue Note compilation series “Blue Note Re:Imagined”. It came out in September of last year and featured Maya with her brilliant take on Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon”. Since then, she has released some beautiful folk-induced singles like “Necklace” and the more pop-oriented “Silver Lining”. Now, she just released “Actress”, a single which puts her more into a soul/jazz bag which also suits her incredibly well. Love the way how the percussion sets in at the beginning of the track. Her voice is unfussy and floating above the tune which also includes a rolling guitar solo which ends into a pleasant part of the piece.
