Melody Gardot Among First Acts For Northsea Jazz
Melody Gardot, who celebrates her 30th birthday today, is among the first few artists confirmed for this year’s Northsea Jazz Festival. One of the biggest indoor jazz festivals worldwide, the organisers of the 40th edition, to be held again in Rotterdam’s Ahoy venue, recently came up with the first names for the weekend of July 10th to 12th. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga will perform on the first day of the festival as will Chick Corea & Herbie Hancock, the Stanley Clarke Band, Alabama Shakes, and Benjamin Clementine. For July 11th, confirmed are Paolo Nutini, Beth Hart, Ron Carter’s Foursight, and Joshua Redman & The Bad Plus. For the final day (July 12th), announced so far are Lionel Richie, Hozier, Kurt Elling, Laura Mvula & Metropole Orkest, and the aforementioned Melody Gardot.
Today’s birthday girl will also play three nights at the Olympia in Paris (June 26th-28th), La Colisée De Roubaix on June 23rd, Mainz on July 11th and the Blue Balls Festival in Luzern, Switzerland, on July 18th.
