Nø Førmat Celebrates 20 Years

Nø Førmat, the exceptional label which brought us the music of Lucas Santtana, Chilly Gonzales, or Nicolas Repac, celebrates its 20th anniversary with a concert in Berlin’s Emmauskirche on November 13th. The label, based in Paris and Johannesburg, will present some of its current artists: the Japanese pianist and composer Koki Nakano, now based in Paris, and the Dutch percussionist Natascha Rogers.

Nakano, known for his mixture of classical and contemporary sounds, will be joined by Nigerian vocalist Wayne Snow, now based in Berlin. The incredibly unique singer fuses soul, r&b, jazz, and electronics to pretty intriguing effects. Snow has released two fascinating LPs, which are both included in our record collection: “Freedom TV” (2017) and “Figurine” (2021). He can be heard on Nakano’s new album “Ululō” on two tracks : the haunting “Valves” and the dramatic “Vertical Pool”. Rogers’ world rhythms in tandem with her vocals will show yet another aspect of this inimitable label.
