The Voice at 100
One of my favorite singers is Carol Sloane. She recorded a Frank Sinatra tribute album in 1996 called “The Songs Sinatra Sang” and in the liner notes to the album, we learn that she was an avid radio listener while growing up in Providence, Rhode Island. “Every one of his albums was something to look forward to, a real event. You just had to have it in your collection right away”. And asked about her favorite Sinatra album, she said: “”Only The Lonely”. If you put that on at three o’clock in the afternoon, suddenly it’s four in the morning.”
Enough said. Gina and her guests are listening to Sinatra LPs all day long today. I need to flip the vinyl…
