Avery*Sunshine in London with New Album

R&B and soul singer and songwriter Avery*Sunshine just released her new album “So Glad To Know You” last week. I remember interviewing her in Berlin several years ago in a hotel backyard when I was immediately impressed by her very outspoken nature, her freshness and her infectious laugh and positivity. Which actually comes across easily in her live performances. She will play this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival November 21-24 at Soul Mama in Stratford.

From the get-go, her new album oozes class and warm vibes. “Hello Sunshine” sets the mood and “Shine No Matter What” just perfectly describes the afore-mentioned power and positiveness. Avery*Sunshine (Denise Nicole White) worked with drummer, vocalist and producer Jamison Ross this time. “All I Need (The Gemini Song)” is simply beautiful and the title track, our favorite on the album, is a stunning showcase for her incredible voice. Dedicated to her husband, guitarist and producer Dana Johnson, we keep coming back to this gently moving love song over and over again. She gets sensuous and sassy on “Show Me” and turns into a retro-styled soul mode on “Fire”. The bubbling vibe of “My Way” is as infectious as her web series which was the idea behind the album. You can follow her and her career, family, and relationships on her YouTube channel where she made an individual clip for each song from the album.

Avery*Sunshine will also play the Monterey Jazz Festival this year (September 29th).
