Berlinale 2016
Gina thinks that the posters for next year’s Berlinale are especially beautiful. And it promises to be another exciting affair, with “Hail, Caesar!”, the new Ethan and Joel Cohen movie opening the festival. It features a stellar cast, with Ralph Fiennes, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, and Scarlett Johannsen, among others.
Jury president Meryl Streep won’t have an easy task – but as of now, five movies are confirmed for the Competition: among them, Michael Grandage’s “Genius” with Colin Firth, Jude Law, and Nicole Kidman, or Alex Gibney’s “Zero Days”, both having their world premiere in Berlin. As will “Midnight Special” by Jeff Nicholas with Kirsten Dunst and Sam Shepard.
The Teddy, the only queer film prize at an A-Festival, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2016. So expect some special screenings for this outstanding achievement.
Now if only there would be a place where you can drop off your dog during the screenings. You can leave your children in a safe and well-attended room, but not your pets. Ideas anyone?
Berlinale 2016 will run from February 11th-21st.
