Deutscher Jazzpreis 2024
On Thursday, the German Jazz Price ceremony was staged in Cologne. Since 2021, Jazz in Germany has been getting much more attention, and deservedly so. The hosts of the evening, Hadnet Tesfai and Götz Bühler, did a nonchalant and cool job, helping to make this a pretty entertaining night. Each nominee took home 4.000€, with the winners each getting 12.000€. Almost all of the winners were there to accept their awards. We were also treated to some live music courtesy of Angelika Niescier, the pretty amazing trio of Omer Klein, and a brilliant solo set by Kenny Barron.
Cologne will be the host again for the fifth edition next year.
