After a short break, the Elbjazz Festival is back in 2017 and yes, part of the venues will be the new queen of the city, the Elbphilharmonie. Hamburg harbour will act as the dramatic stage for two days of jazz and jazz-related genres with over 50 acts performing.
On June 2nd and June 3rd, acts like Youn Sun Nah, Jan Garbarek, the Joshua Redman Trio, Caecilie Norby & Lars Danielsson, Eric Schaefer, and Snarky Puppy will perform. As usual, there are several acts to be discovered, like London-based singer Ala.Ni, who describes her music as “Dark Disney”. Or New Jersey-born, Cologne-based hip-hop and conscious rap artist Akua Naru, who has worked with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson.
Also on the schedule, Bugge Wesseltoft & Beady Belle, Erik Truffaz Quartet, Vincent Peirani & Émile Parisien, the NDR Bigband, Dhafer Youssef, and festival highlight Gregory Porter.
