New York City Sweet Madness in January

Kathy KosinsIt’s that time of year again where I wish I could be at several places at the same time: the annual JazzConnect Conference (January 5th and 6th), the 13th annual Winter Jazzfest (January 5th to 10th) at 14 venues across the Village (with an unbelievable lineup), and the annual APAP conference and showcases (January 6th to 10th).

So if you happen to be in New York next month, Gina and I can only highly recommend to check out the showcase of Detroit-based singer Kathy Kosins who will present songs from her upcoming album “Uncovered Soul” (to be released in April). The album was produced by Kamau Kenyatta (Gregory Porter’s producer; Gregory has just been nominated for a Grammy for his latest album) and is a fascinating blending of sophisticated soul with jazz.

Kathy plays at the New York Hilton Midtown (1335 Avenue of the Americas) on January 8th at 4:30pm. Make sure to say hello afterwards!
