That’s 25-year old Jeff Lorber on the cover of his first album from 1977.
The Jazz Funk Soul keyboard player, composer, and leader celebrates his 62nd birthday today. He has worked with Miles Davis, Lalah Hathaway, Janet Jackson, Dave Koz, and lots more and just a few months ago released an album of Jazz, Funk and Soul tunes with partners Everett Harp and Chuck Loeb. Lorber and the guys are on tour throughout the month of November and plays in Denver, Cleveland, and more.
Trumpeter, producer, and educator Jeremy Pelt is 38 today. His latest album from January, “Face Forward, Jeremy”, demonstrates why he is counted as one of the best young trumpet individuals of our time. He is currently winding up his European Tour with the Soul Jazz Alliance and will celebrate his birthday with his own Quartet at New York’s 55 Bar on November 19th.
Everybody’s darling Gregory Porter celebrates his 43rd birthday today. The singer, who has an incredibly successful couple of years behind him, is still touring the world over behind his third album, “Liquid Spirit”. He is all over Europe until mid-December and will then continue his North American Tour until the end of February.
