Musikfest Bremen August 29th-September 19th

This year’s Musikfest Bremen features some interesting events again. Since 1989, this music festival which covers all kinds of genres, but mostly classical and jazz, has become increasingly popular.

Musikfest BremenFor the 2015 edition, here are my picks:

Singer Cécile McLorin Salvant will introduce her new album “For One To Love” on September 3rd. Joining her is the Aaron Diehl Trio with Aaron on piano, Paul Sikivie on bass, and Lawrence Leathers on drums.

The Amazing Keystone Big Band from France, a 20-piece orchestra, will celebrate the music and the arrangements of Quincy Jones on September 11th at Theater and der Blinke in Leer.

Musikfest Goes Overseas is the title of the programme on September 12th with an illustrious cast: the Dutch Metropole Orkest will feature some very special guests: Joshua Redman, Ibrahim Maalouf, and Lalah Hathaway will guarantee three extraordinary sets that night.

Acoustic Techno is the thing on September 15th with the German Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble & the Free Electric Singers featuring Beaver Sheppard.

The Indian/British clarinetist and composer Arun Ghosh and his Quintet will play an eclectic mix of jazz, ragas, and oriental music on September 16th, UK Jazz/Punk/Rock/Electro wizards Get The Blessing are featured on September 17th and the Becca Stevens Band from New York will introduce songs from their current album “Perfect Animal” on September 18th (in Bremerhaven).
