Splitter Music Festival

Splitter Music FestivalThe Splitter Music Festival is a new festival in Berlin for contemporary orchestral music. I’ve seen the Splitter Orchester with George Lewis at last year’s Berlin Jazzfest and the group will present the release “Creative Construction Set” during the festival, which will run from November 24th to 27th.

The opening concert at Berlin’s Wabe will present the Insub Meta Orchestra from Switzerland which will also perform with the Splitter Orchester. Experimental music lovers will enjoy Sven-Ake Johansson who is going to perform with his 22-piece ensemble and his symphony for cardboard boxes. The closing night will see The Pitch Frozen Orchestra, also including members of Splitter.

But there won’t be large orchestras only during the festival: small working bands from the Splitter Orchester will perform as well. Singer and guitarist Margareth Kammerer will meet Les Femmes Savantes (named after Molière’s satirical comedy), a composer-performer ensemble from Berlin. And for post-rock addicts, groups like Transmit and The Still will make you happy.

Concerts will be at Wabe and Ballhaus Ost and more info, including how and where to get tickets, can be found right here: http://berlinsplitter.org/
